Database Administrator/IT Specialist 

FLSA STATUS: Full Time, Exempt
REPORTS TO: Chief Officer of Operations

SUMMARY:    The Database Administrator/IT Specialist administers, evaluates, designs, implements and maintains organization’s databases, provides the primary desktop and software-related technical support for problem resolutions; provides support with server administration, user account maintenance, network security, system documentation, and help-desk support functions; and participates in planning of future upgrades and technology enhancements.   This position is also responsible for basic database system modifications in response to departmental needs and day-to-day system integrity, including recommending strategies to ensure data integrity. Will enter data and maintain the membership, camp, and program database.


  • Accountable for the accuracy and integrity of all donor and membership data files and implements quality control mechanisms
  • Performs data entry and oversees the data entry and registration process for membership, camp, and events of the organization  
  • Recommends and implements policies, procedures and guidelines for data entry when necessary
  • Provides in-house expertise and technical support to end-users on database and software-related issues  
  • Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems, working with outside vendors/technical support as needed, and documents, tracks and monitors problems to ensure a timely resolution
  • Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates database systems and user needs to provide recommendations and solutions to parallel overall business strategies  
  • Develops strategies for, and manages the implementation of database consolidations to streamline efficiencies as needed throughout the organization, and participates in planning and execution of future upgrades and technology enhancements
  • Trains staff on the use of the organizations standard software applications/databases, as needed
  • Develops and produces accurate and timely routine and special reports, and data retrievals for staff as needed, and is the point person for managing custom reporting requests  
  • Oversees day-to-day integrity of database and database procedures, which may include conducting weekly and monthly audits of data to confirm use of accurate entry processes; identifying and eliminating duplicate records; archiving of records with no activity for specified period; and maintaining user’s security settings
  • Conducts all global changes and/or data imports to maintain data, and periodically eliminates obsolete query, export and report parameter settings
  • Remains informed on software updates, upgrades and additional actively integrates professional standards and service standards into daily interactions

  • Candidate must successfully pass drug screen and criminal background and credit checks 
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or advanced experience in computer science, information technology, computer networking
  • Minimum 2 years IT and database management experience along with high volume data entry experience  
  • Excellent knowledge of  the Microsoft Office Suite and adept at supporting computer hardware and peripherals
  • One to two years of proven customer service experience 
  • Valid state driver’s license.
  • Use of one’s own vehicle for minimal travel is required. 
  • Travel within western TN, north MS, and metro Memphis is required 
  • Must be able to type 40 to 50 wpm
