students from kindergarten to college are invited to enter the Healthy Tupelo
Student Media Contest. Create a Public Service Announcement (PSA) about health,
nutrition, or safety and enter to win the Grand Prize of $1,000 and have your
PSA shown on TV!
What message do you want to share with your community? Is it
playing on a softball team with your friends? Helping your parents start a vegetable
garden in your back yard? Learning how to cook so you can eat more healthy
foods? Do you want to interview your friends about the fun things they do to be
fit and strong? To enter, create a video about your idea, post it to Vimeo on
the “Healthy Tupelo Contest” channel, and send us the link. Entries will be
available on the City of Tupelo’s
website, and anyone can vote to elect the winners.
Any student who lives in Tupelo
or attends a Tupelo
school can enter the contest. The 100 students in Brooks Mayes’s media classes
at Tupelo High School will be making entries as
part of a class project. Videos should be about health, nutrition, exercise, or
safety and should be 15 or 30 seconds long. Prizes are $1,000 for the Grand
Prize, $500 for second place, and $250 for third place. The winning entry will
be aired on WCBI, WTVA, WLOV and WKDH.
Upload your video to www.vimeo.com, label it on the Healthy
Tupelo Contest channel, and fill out an application. We’ll review your entry
for content and then put it on the City of Tupelo website. You can visit our website or Vimeo
to watch the entries and vote on your favorite. The videos with the most
“likes” on Vimeo win first, second, and third place. Students of any age who
live or attend school in the City of Tupelo
are eligible to apply. You can enter as an individual, with one or more
friends, or as a class.
Entries are accepted during the month of February, and
the winners will be announced on Friday, March 4.
