Tishomingo Cadettes Talk About Bullying

By Deanna Calley

Tishomingo County Girl Scout Cadette Troop #20037 hosted a "Monday Fun Day" for Daisies where they showed a video about bullying. They then spoke about different aspects of bullying. They broke into three groups to have the girls filling out questionnaires and sign a promise not to bully. They also performed a sign language/movement adaptation to a song.

It was a very thorough presentation that moved the leaders. Several leaders have asked the group to meet with their troops for this presentation. I was personally excited that the younger girls were able to see the older Girl Scouts in action. They have put a great deal of work into this presentation and it shows. I would love for every child to see this presentation, because it would help bring awareness to our bullying problems.

I was one of the Daisy leaders there that day. The Cadettes' presentation brought tears to my eyes. The girls did a wonderful job and we are all so proud of them. I think they picked a great topic to earn their Silver Award.
