President Obama Awards Our Late Founder, Juliette Gordon Low, the Presidential Medal of Freedom
May 31, 2012
On Tuesday, May 29, GSUSA CEO, Anna Maria Chavez, National President Connie L. Lindsey, members of the Gordon family and five Girl Scouts had the honor of being in attendance at the White House when President Obama awarded our late founder, Juliette Gordon Low, the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
In describing Daisy Low, President Obama called her a "trailblazer for America's daughters," and the official program noted that "Americans of all backgrounds continue to draw inspiration from Juliette Gordon Low's remarkable vision." Indeed, all of us in Girl Scouting remain ever inspired by the vision of Daisy Low and her enduring contributions to girls and to our nation. You may view the ceremony on the Internet and one of the Girl Scouts in attendance, Diana Greymountain, wrote a wonderful article about her experience for the Huffington Post and I hope you will take a moment to read it.
